Reason 2: The Church is God’s plan

Part 2 of 20: Why not move to Peterborough?

Peterborough Festival

Charles W. Colson (1992) in his book ‘The Body’ (1992) captures something of God’s heart and passion for the mission of the church. Colson says, “The church is not incidental to the great cosmic struggle for the hearts and souls of modern men and women. It is the instrument God has chosen for that battle – a battle we are called to by virtue of being members of His body.”

Come and help build  a glorious city and region transfoming church that is committed to seeing lives transformed through the power of the gospel.

Why not move to Peterborough (20 Reasons)?

ThomasDeaconPeterborough

Maybe you are at a juncture in your life. The children have left home or you have just finished University and your wondering what God might have for you. Over the coming days I’m going to be posting a number of blogs on reasons to move to Peterborough. Some of these reasons will be deeply held convictions about God’s plans for the city. Others will be social, recreational and family based. My hope is that over the coming months a number of new families and individuals will sense the call of God to come and join the existing church family in Peterborough as we step into a new season of mission together.

John Piper: Mission

John-Piper-(9)-755674

“Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn’t. Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man.”

“… in missions we simply aim to bring the nations into the white-hot enjoyment of God’s glory.”
Piper J., (2003), Let the nations be glad. The supremacy of God in missions, 2nd edition, Baker Academic, p.17
